What are people saying about PSYCHOTIC INTERLUDE?
Thanks to mind-blowing advances in
technology, the world is more interactive than ever. From video games
to porn 😁, the content we love to consume is being purposefully
designed in ways that allow us to dig in and really get hands on.
This granular plateau of interactivity has crossed over into the
world of creative writing, where visual novels like The Rave as well
as conventional ebooks are giving readers an opportunity to enjoy
their cherished pastime on an even deeper level. This type of
interaction can be found in a book I recently picked up called
Psychotic Interlude.
Author TONEYE EYENOT instantly appealed
to my wicked senses with a unique and compelling synopsis that let me
know I was in store for something different. Having said that,
nothing could prepare me for what I walked into upon thumbing through
those digital pages. EYENOT’s approach to interactive storytelling …
or at least one of them, as this appears to be a collection of
stories …. is making the reader the focal point of the story. So
instead of learning about the adventures of Joe and Jane Blow, it’s
YOU who’s contemplating strangling your boss or butchering the
prostitute in your hotel room. The author essentially plays the role
of devil’s advocate, egging you on and detailing the rage, fright and angst
you experience while enduring these life-altering ordeals.
I must be honest when I say I didn’t
get very far with the book, so I don’t really have an opinion on how
good it is or isn’t. As I eluded to, this style of writing totally
threw me for a loop as I was expecting a straightforward story that I
hoped was at least entertaining. However, I can say that the writing
is technically sound and visually descriptive to a point where I
could see things growing very intense the deeper you venture. I do
plan to read this book in its entirety, but it’s one of those things
I have to adopt a proper mindset for. Just to be certain that I can
give it my undivided attention.
Bless the Movement
I have a soft spot for writers and
especially love to see authors experimenting with different styles
and concepts. After all, the ease of self-publishing has made the
book game fiercely competitive, so finding a way to stand out from
the crowd is one of the most effective strategies you can employ. In
the meantime, I highly recommend that readers step out of their own
comfort zones by supporting the interactive reading movement. You
just may find a style of storytelling that jumps off the pages, grabs
your senses, and never lets go!
